In early August, a team of 6 people from SCC went to Las Vegas, NV to minister with and support our church planting partner, Grace City Church. GCC is a little over a year old and has 250+ people attending worship services regularly at Jack Lund Schofield Middle School as well as an Outreach Center in Flamingo that serves the poor and marginalized and a ministry to the campus of UNLV.
SCC’s team assisted in canvassing neighborhoods and distributing promotional flyers for the church in addition to helping with a community block party and setting up for GCC’s worship service. They also participated in various outreaches in the heart of Las Vegas that included a film project on the strip and an arts festival.
One other component to the mission involved providing media assistance as several members from the team did photography and filmed hours of video to help get the Gospel out in Vegas and to promote what He is doing through Grace City.
This summer, two of our Springdale members went with Kentucky Country Day School to Haiti and worked with SCC global missions partner, Haitian Christian Outreach. David Miller is an instructor of fine arts at KCD and his daughter, Leah is a junior at the school.
The group navigated their way from Port-au-Prince to Peredo and served the people through medical clinics, orphan care and other humanitarian efforts. David was able to incorporate his knowledge and use of photography to bless HCO and other ministries to further their cause through media.
One of our strongest local missions partners is the Jefferson Street Center in the heart of downtown Louisville. Jeff St., as it is widely known, has been in existence since 1881 and is still thriving in its stated mission to extend gospel-centered mercy to the homeless and hurting of the Louisville region. It remains one of the more recognized places of refuge in the state of Kentucky and it’s current leadership believes that the best days are ahead.
After a period of transition at the helm, Jeff St. named Phil Schultz as its new Executive Director in January of 2013. Phil is a native Philadelphian with an unbelievable testimony of salvation and life-change as well as an extensive background in pastoral ministry and care for the homeless and marginalized. With Schultz’s leadership and a fantastic team of people around him, Jeff St. looks to be in good hands for the foreseeable future.
Like any non-profit organization, JCBC has plenty of physical and spiritual needs to be met. They covet the prayers of everyone and the support of sponsoring churches not only in dollars but in presence. There are multiple ways to serve at Jeff St. and they outline them on their website’s volunteer page. They are also in the middle of several renovation projects and they welcome help from groups and individuals alike with these upgrades to their facilities.
For more information about the Jefferson Street Center, log on to their website at www.jeffersonstreet.org or contact an Engage Leadership Team member at SCC.
Join us for an informational meeting about our Las Vegas missions trip on June 11, 2013 at 6:30pm in the Fireside Room. The trip will take place on August 1-4 and we will be partnering with Grace City Church. For more info before the meeting takes place, please contact Stewart Haag at firstname.lastname@example.org.

On March 24th, we welcomed The Blessings, our global missions partner in Guinea, West Africa, back to SCC in both of our worship gatherings. David and Billie and their children are in country on sabbatical and preparing for the birth of their 3rd child.
We showed a powerful video produced by World Venture highlighting the content of their ministry in Guinea and David shared a few words in both gatherings. The whole family then talked to and hung out with many from the church in a reception after the 11:00 am service.
We are proud and blessed to partner with this wonderful family in taking the Gospel to the people of West Africa. Please pray for them and visit their website for current needs and activities in their missional journey.
